Committee Vacancies

If you have spare time, would like to meet new people and be involved in running DASH, please read the brief outline of the vacant Committee positions below.

We urgently need to fill these positions, so please do not delay.

Secretary

We are looking for a friendly, proactive, computer literate person with excellent communication skills, their own computer and transport.

Terms of reference for this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Receive and acknowledge member correspondence via email, telephone or post.
  • Be an active member of the Standing Committee and contribute to decision making/discussions.
  • Keep a record of decisions made via email outside of Committee meetings.
  • Organise and attend bi-monthly Executive and Standing Committee Meetings on alternate months.
  • Produce agendas and minutes for the above meetings and distribute these in a timely manner.
  • Help to organise the Annual General Meeting, produce the agenda and take minutes.
  • When time allows, offer to help man the show stand with the Shows Manager.

Communications Manager

This is an outward facing role which requires someone with an outgoing, confident nature, excellent IT skills and relevant experience. Your own transport would be advantageous for this role.

Terms of reference for this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • To increase exposure of the DASH brand to the smallholding community.
  • Write regular press releases and articles for relevant magazines and websites.
  • Co-ordinate and produce the bi-monthly e-newsletter.
  • Engage with the membership to identify topics of interest to them.
  • In liaison with the Website Manager actively engage with the membership via Twitter and Facebook.
  • Help to further enhance the reputation of DASH to its members.
  • Work closely with the Events Manager to arrange marketing and publicity of events.
  • Reply to all correspondence from the committee or members in a timely manner.
  • Report to the DASH Executive Committee at bi-monthly Executive meetings.
  • Abide by the rules of the current issue of the DASH Constitution at all times.
  • Attend and give a yearly report to the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Attend at least 2 shows during the year where you will help the Shows Manager on the DASH stand and talk to prospective members.
  • Attend a performance review meeting with the Standing Committee annually.

Extra Members

We also are looking for 2 extra members of the committee to represent the membership. If you are interested, you must be nominated and seconded by a member of DASH who is not on the executive committee. It is hoped that these new members of the committee might consider other roles as they become available. For example, David will be stepping down as treasurer at the end of 2017, having served 5 years in the post.
