This one-day course is for those who need to keep simple farm accounts in order to provide HMRC with proof of the profit or loss from their smallholding. The aim is to improve the accuracy of your book-keeping, reduce the time you spend on paperwork and minimise your accountants' fees by providing them with accurate and summarised figures. You will be provided with a ready-made template of worksheets including Cash Book, automated Bank Reconciliation, automatic calculation of VAT, summarised Income/Expenditure by category and opening/closing stock valuations. The day will be split between learning how to use the spreadsheet to manage monthly, quarterly and year-end activities and examining the techniques and formulas used. At the end of the day you will be confident in managing your financial records and able to modify the spreadsheet to suit your personal needs and preferences.

Most of our courses are aimed at adults and are quite intensive, so they are not aimed at children. If you would like to bring a child on a course please discuss it with the training manager before booking. It is assumed that bookings you make are for adults. Only people who have paid the course fee are allowed at the training venue. Do not bring pets or other animals to the training venue unless you are required to do so as part of the course. Most venues are working smallholdings and dogs or other animals (even if left in your car) are disruptive and compromise biosecurity.
